Sonel MRU-200-GPS - PV

The Sonel MRU-200-GPS ground resistance and soil resistivity meter enables the use of all known methods for measuring ground resistance. This makes it an unparalleled measuring instrument among similar products and definitely sets it apart from other similar devices. The Sonel MRU-200-GPS allows you to perform tests using the 3-pole and 4-wire method, with the use of additional clamps (multiple grounding), as well as the double clamp method and pulse method (for ground impedance measurement).

The application of the dual-core measurement method allows for ground resistance measurement under certain conditions without the need for an auxiliary probe driven into the ground. On the other hand, the impulse method is used for diagnosing lightning protection grounding, but it can also be used to measure extensive, multiple and connected grounding (including underground), without interfering with the circuit. By using the impulse method, measurements can be made in accordance with EN 62305 - the grounding impedance needs to be measured. It is worth noting that this instrument also has a built-in GPS receiver, which can record the results as well as the location coordinates. Another function of this instrument is the ability to measure soil resistivity, the continuity of protection and balancing connections, as well as to measure leakage or fault current using clamps.

The sophistication of this device is demonstrated by the excellent accuracy of the results it produces. The instrument is calibrated in accordance with EN 61557 standards and measures from 0.100 Ω.

measuring method

  • Pulse method - Measuring lightning protection systems with pulse slopes of 4/10 μs, 8/20 μs, and 10/350 μs
  • 3. Three-wire and 4-wire Method - Measuring the grounding system using an auxiliary probe
  • With clips: 3-wire method - Measuring grounding systems with multiple grounding electrodes
  • Double-clamp method – Measuring the grounding system when an auxiliary probe cannot be used
  • Grounding resistance rate – Winnafar
  • Measure the resistance of grounding and compensation conductors using a current of ≥ 200 mA, with an automatic zeroing function – in compliance with EN 61557-4 requirements
  • Leakage current measurement

additional function

  • Built-in GPS receiver – Records results using location coordinates
  • Measurement of the resistance values of the auxiliary electrodes RS and RH
  • Measurement of interference voltage
  • Interference frequency measurement
  • Measurements were conducted in the presence of interference voltages generated by the power network with frequencies of 16 2/3 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, and 400 Hz.
  • Select the maximum measurement voltage (25 V and 50 V)
  • Automatically calculate the soil resistivity, with units of ohm meters (Ωm) and ohm feet (Ωft).
  • Store 990 measurement results (10 groups, with 99 units in each group)
  • Calibration of the used fixtures
  • Real-time clock (RTC)
  • Data is transmitted to computers and mobile devices.
  • Battery indicator

use

The MRU-200-GPS instrument is specifically designed for the most challenging working conditions. It generates a measurement current of over 200 mA, providing effective measurement for the grounding of energy objects such as substations and power stations.

By using the clip method, the control connector does not need to be disconnected, which is sometimes a very cumbersome task. This is particularly useful when working on objects exposed to weather conditions, where the connecting elements may sometimes be corroded or lose their luster.

The graphical user interface provides clear readings and explicit information. This means fast and trouble-free service.

impulse method

The MRU-200-GPS can be used to test the grounding condition of the lightning protection system, as this instrument can simulate the situation that occurs during a lightning strike - it generates currents with standardized pulse front edges and half-peak times. The available pulse slopes include 4/10 μs, 8/20 μs, and 10/350 μs.

Compatible with the ERP-1 adapter

The ERP-1 adapter enables users to test the grounding system using flexible fixtures. This is particularly useful, for example, in the case of a grid tower – without having to shut down the lines or disconnect the control connectors. The proprietary algorithm allows users to check the direction of current in individual measurements and facilitates damage detection, such as corroded steel bands (housings).

capacity

The measurement methods available in this device enable comprehensive control over both working and protective grounding. The calibration function of the test leads eliminates the influence of their resistance on the results. However, this is just the beginning.

  • The four-wire method can measure the expected small resistance values very accurately - eliminating the resistance of the test leads connected to the ground of the instrument.
  • The continuity measurement of the protection connection and equipotential connection with current exceeding 200 mA complies with the requirements of EN 61557-4 standard.
  • Before conducting the measurement, the instrument will check whether the object being measured has been subjected to excessive interference voltage, which might indicate other issues.

Memory and outcome

The results can be saved in the device's memory. They are divided into 10 groups, each containing 99 units, and each unit corresponds to a measurement value. These results can be easily transferred to the Sonel Reader software for archiving or for subsequent analysis and research.

The Bluetooth wireless interface can be used to transfer measurement results to PC software or mobile phones with the dedicated application Sonel MRU Mobile. This not only provides the function of data archiving, but also enables further data transmission - directly from the measurement site via email.
